Blog Diary: Week 3

This week we have been concentrating on the storyboard finishing touches aiming to have the animatic done by Thursday so we can proceed to have audience feedback through Friday. This planning is crucial as the audience feedback will tell us what shots and part of the story we need to change before we begin filming next week. Through the week we have scanned in over 100 shots, which are all go into detail about different angles and shots we want to use in the story.  Also through this week we have been doing a survey which is available online for our target audience to answer as we can gather in more detail what our target audience are looking for in a indie rock music video.

Over the weekend we will be planning shoots in our certain locations and planning our schedules so we can see when would be best for us to do the shoots. Some shooting will be night so we will also be researching how to have successful night time shoots. As a group we aim to be filming by the end of next week of next weekend at the latest, we have already asked permission off all the actors we want to include in the film, many of them we have full faith will make the music video look as professional as possible. We have also this week gathered a band which can all play the instruments which should make the performance side of the video more professional. This weekend we also will be analyzing the target research to ensure we are doing what our target audience want to see in an indie rock video.

Locations

We now have a list of locations of where we are wanting to film:

We have decided to use:

Marden Quarry: This is a forested area in Cullercoats. We have decided to use this for certain scene where the main protagonist is chasing another and also for the scene where the cage is involoved, with the Quarry being a forested area.

Train tracks: To film Abby on the tracks we will be bringing Abby's Dad along for supervision.  On the track we will be filming the meeting scene for Abby and Chloe.

Y Studios: In Y studios we will be filming the band performance.

Wagon ways Backtrack: To film more scene of Abby running.

Baltic: For the artist scene

Animatic Storyboarding

Today we are finishing up our animatic after cutting out all the shots and scanning them into
Adobe Premier Pro.

We found that even after doing 109 shots many of them are short takes and we will need to take more shots for the rough cut.

Anamatic video feedback

After receiving the anamatic feedback from our class we decided to make some videos of the most helpful feedback. From the anamatic we have learnt that we need to make the story line more clear to the audience. We also learnt that our editing was great and that it should be kept like that for the music video. We also liked how our audiences felt that the narrative so far suited the song.

Here are the videos from our target audience:

Anamatic feedback

Here is a mind map of feedback we have received from our anamatic. From it we have discovered that we need to make the narrative more clear. But we also have discovered positives saying that the editing is great and that it should be replicated for the music video. People also liked the dark storyline that we have created, even though they feel it needs to be expanded more.

Overall we are really happy with our anamatic and feel like we can now begin planning and filming our music video ready for the rough cut deadline,

Location spotting: Iona's House

Iona's House is the perfect location when it comes to shooting the main protagonists scenes. The house is surrounded by windows in which we have decided would be perfect to dress up with candles in order to make the room look eerie to the audience. We have also decided to use the garden in some scenes, as Iona owns a fire pit, which we could use for burning scenes with the photos or scrap book. We will most likely do some rearranging in the house, moving the crosstrainer and dog chair. Overall we have decided that Iona's house would be perfect when it comes shooting some of the scenes in which portray the main protagonist as a creep and unpredictable women.

Lead Actress

After an extensive search to find someone to star in the music video we have found our very own team member Abby to be up for the role. Abby looks the part for the dark role we want to portray through the music video. Also since we need someone who is avaliable when we are Abby being in the team should be avaliable most of the time.
